Back in April I wrote to recommend you take advantage of the free credit reports you are entitled to each year. You may recall I suggested you cover the entire year by requesting just 1 of the reporting agencies each time – spread out over the year. For example, request Equifax in January, Experian in May, and TransUnion in September.
Ironically, shortly after my April email I got a call from a client who had applied for a home equity loan only to find that she was ‘deceased’ as far as the credit bureaus where concerned.
Now that September is near, this is my friendly reminder to review your credit reports.
